New Ordinance of Ministry of Health includes 165 new work-related diseases and lists new occupational risk factors

Ordinance GM/MS No. 1.999/2023, updates and includes new diseases in the List of Work-Related Diseases (LDRT), which serves as a reference for diseases and injuries arising from the work process.

Several mental illnesses are part of the new list, including Burnout, anxiety, depression and attempted suicide.

The Ordinance also listed that the use of certain drugs (opiates, cannabinoids, sedatives, hypnotics, etc.) may result from exhausting working hours; harassment (moral and sexual) and even the way the worker is hired (as an employee, contractor, self-employed, etc). .

The LDRT is a reference document of an exemplary nature, which does not restrict or guarantee the existence of a nexus between a disease and working conditions. However, the list can serve as one of the foundational elements for configuring the nexus.

The list is part of the National Workers’ Health Policy of the Unified Health System (SUS), providing guidelines for prevention and epidemiological surveillance carried out by the SUS.

The Ordinance will come into force 30 days after the date of its publication
